Specific Obedience to a Specific Call
One of the most important aspects of Heralds of Hope’s ministry is our emphasis on discipleship. Together with our partners, we produce and distribute quality Bible resources to empower churches and individuals around the world.
“Go and make disciples.” This is a command given to us in Jesus’ Great Commission; we must pour our resources into strategies that best accomplish that mission.
Our Model of Discipleship
Evangelism preaches truth to one or two people, or perhaps a crowd. While this is powerful, what if we advanced the Kingdom of Christ from a more strategic perspective?
Discipleship can be exponential. When you intentionally disciple one person, you equip them to then go and disciple others. The exponential growth in these results is remarkable.
As Christians and missionaries, we should go. We should share the gospel with broken people around the world, and we should share it in their own heart language! But we cannot stop there.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
Heralds of Hope envisions strong and thriving churches globally, which is why we approach discipleship in this manner.
Our model of discipleship is built around empowering believers to become disciple-makers in their own communities. Believers around the world must be equipped with resources so that they not only learn about Christ, but are also transformed into faith-filled, disciple-making believers.
The Four E’s of Making “Disciple-Making Disciples”
Engage. Discipleship cannot be accomplished if you do not first evangelize. Engaging people with the gospel means going into the world to reach the unreached, plant seeds, and share the powerful truth of what Jesus did for us on the cross.
It is guiding lost sheep to their Good Shepherd.
Establish. Young believers need tools to establish their theology, so they don’t fall prey to heresy or false doctrine. We provide them with intentionally produced, carefully translated Bible resources that can give them firm theological ground in which to plant spiritual roots.
God calls us to establish believers through discipleship, and discipleship can happen only through relationships. We emphasize partnerships and real connections because discipleship is relational, and the body of Christ is built on community and fellowship. As new believers become established in their faith, they learn to surrender to the Lord in practical, everyday ways.
We receive listener feedback from our radio broadcasts thanking us for providing encouragement and expository teaching on Scripture. We create, distribute, and connect – and the Holy Spirit moves in the areas we cannot reach.
Equip. To equip believers is to disciple them to make other disciples. Equipping disciples and churches is the foundation for sustainable ministry. When our resources nurture believers, they have what they need to disciple others, and discipleship becomes exponential.
Empower. By coming alongside churches, organizations, and individuals, and providing them with contacts, resources, and tools, further discipleship is empowered. Heralds of Hope is partner-focused, which means we envision building bridges in the global community to advance our global mission of discipling the world.
Believers today are responsible for building up the next generation of disciples.
The Tools We Use
As mentioned above, Heralds of Hope works to carry out discipleship in unique, varied ways.
We engage, establish, equip, and empower through our Bible distribution and expository Bible teaching. We use many different forms of media, such as radio broadcasts, podcasts, and social media. We challenge ourselves to be creative in Bible distribution – using solar-powered audio Bibles, SD cards to accomplish our goals.
We create expository Bible teaching for discipleship, but our content is only as meaningful as the hearts it affects and reaches; this is why partnership is such an essential part of the process.
Together with our partners, we bridge gaps. By working with translators to contextualize and reproduce our content, we reach hearts for the Kingdom.
Together with churches, local and abroad, discipleship is empowered.
Together with organizations, national and international, our reach is broadened and borders become easier to cross.
Together with visionaries, passionate leaders, and generous donors, we pursue obedience to the call of Jesus, and we see Scripture changing hearts for the Kingdom of God.
