Read-a-Thon

Thank you for joining us in this endeavor to get Bibles into the hands of people across the world who do not have the opportunity to own God’s Word like we do!

The next Read-A-Thon is December 1-31, 2022. The sign-up deadline is November 20, 2022.

Not sure how it works?

  1. Sign up online or complete the Read-A-Thon Signup (Form 1) and send it to Heralds of Hope Read-A-Thon PO Box 3, Breezewood, PA 15533 by November 20, 2022. Make sure to mark what T-shirt size you need! (Recommended ages are 5-18.)
  2. Ask friends and family to sponsor your reading. They can give a pledge per page or give a single donation. Keep track of your sponsors’ pledges on the Sponsor Log (Form 2). Please make sure to write their full name and mailing address. This will help us keep good records so that we can send them a tax-deductible receipt. (To aid in this process, a Sponsor Solicitation Letter is available to print below.)
  3. Gather the books you want to read in this 31-day period. Be sure these are age-appropriate. See qualifications below.
  4. READ! Use the Reading Log (Form 3) to keep track of the pages you read. It is important that you keep track of the amount of pages you read so that we can give you the correct prize!
  5. When you have completed reading on December 31, 2022, collect the pledges from your sponsors. (To aid in this process, a Collection Letter is available to print from our website.) All checks should be made out to Heralds of Hope. If your sponsors give you cash, please write a check to Heralds of Hope for the amount of the cash. No tax-deductible receipt will be given for cash donations.
  6. Check out the prizes on Read-A-Thon Prizes (Form 4). Choose your prize from the category that has the number of pages that you read. Write down your decision on Form 4, along with your first and last name.
  7. Make sure that Forms 2, 3, and 4 are completed. Mail your sponsors’ checks and Forms 2, 3, and 4 to Heralds of Hope by February 7 in order to count for your prize.
  8. When we have received the checks, we will send your sponsors’ tax-deductible receipts. Please make sure that Form 2 has your sponsors’ full names and current mailing addresses. (Cash sponsors do not receive receipts.)
  9. Watch the mail for your prize! (It should arrive by the beginning of March.)

Note: If the sponsor check is for more than one child, the sponsor should write on the memo line of the check the amount that goes for each child or send a note along with the check clarifying the amount for each child.

The Packet includes all instructions and forms to make sure you are properly signed up to participate in this event. (It is helpful to print this double-sided.)
