HOH Canada

Canadian Board Member, Mark Gerber, shares how he got involved with Heralds of Hope in Canada: As our family arrived here in NW Ontario in November of 1961, we were also looking for a church fellowship, which we then found in International Falls, MN. We also found some Christian, biblically-sound radio programs from “across the border.” There was “God’s News Behind the News” by Ray & Darlene Brubaker in those days. That program always ended with the verse from Luke 12:40: Be ye, therefore, ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. One other radio program was “The Voice of Hope” by Dr. J. Otis Yoder. We appreciated both of these radio programs, heard on Sunday evenings, and financially supported them.

Later on, when we asked if there was also a Canadian office, Dr. Yoder replied that there was not, but that they were thinking and praying for this to happen. He also asked in his letter if I would be willing to serve on the board since the Canadian government requires non-profits to have one.

In 1997, Dr. Yoder shared, “In due time, we hope to enter the Canadian airwaves with multiple language broadcasts.” Our first broadcast to the First Nations people hit the airwaves in late 2018 on the Wawatay Radio Network. French ministry with TWR-Canada to the French-speaking population has been an online-only ministry for many years. In October of 2020, TWR-Canada and HOH-Canada were given a grant to air these broadcasts, taking it from an online-only platform to reaching more people with the Gospel by streaming it across the airwaves!
