Confidence in Crisis

christian blog confidence in crisis

Hebrews 4:14-16 tells us,

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest . . . let us hold fast to the confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time.” (HCSB)

These verses remind us that Jesus was tested in every way, just like we are. Some versions use the word, tempted, but both meanings are contained in the original Greek word.

We’re in a time of world crisis. Most people alive today have never faced a worldwide pandemic. We all have many questions. Some have many fears. Through it all, we’ve been invited to approach God’s throne of grace with boldness, that is, confidence.

We can freely share our deepest feelings with our great High Priest, Jesus, who then takes our requests before our Father and His. We can be one hundred percent certain that He will give us the mercy and grace we need for today!

This is the season of the Resurrection. Jesus Himself “offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death and was heard because of His godly fear.” Jesus “tasted death” for each of us and was raised again. His faithful obedience was perfected through suffering.

Is the COVID-19 crisis testing your faith? Are you discouraged, lonely, fearful, anxious, or angry? Jesus understands and He cares. Take your fears and your negative feelings to Him.

At Heralds of Hope, we care too! Do you need someone to talk to, someone to pray with you and encourage you to be confident in God’s promises?

Please contact us with your concerns and your requests. We’d consider it a privilege to pray with you and for you.

Sincerely in the HOPE of the Gospel,
