Hebrews 1 starts out with these three amazing verses.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

What a gift we have in Christ! Here is God’s best revelation of Himself; what an awesome opportunity we have to connect with our maker through His Son. The longer you meditate on this, the more it humbles your heart before Him. Remember the verse in Job 9? Job longed for what we have, he said, “For He is not a man, as I am, That I may answer Him, And that we should go to court together. Nor is there any mediator between us, Who may lay his hand on us both.” Can you feel Job’s desire for a way to connect with God? In Christ, we have exactly what he wanted!

Verse three tells us Christ is the “express image of his person.” The Sovereign Creator of the universe has shown us more of Himself. This knowledge is a great privilege and a big responsibility. Greater understanding requires a response. You cannot have this knowledge and remain neutral. Each of us is either growing in our understanding and becoming more like Christ, or we are gaining knowledge and our hearts are becoming distant and cold. That’s it; there is no in-between.
